Spirituality and the Gift of Anger

Spirituality and the Gift of Anger
Hi Judah,
I have a question for you regarding anger. I feel like sometimes I get stuck in this mindset that spirituality excludes anger. Yet, the energy of anger when it is unreleased is poisonous and leaks out all over the place. What is the best way to release it and completely clear yourself from stored up anger, to free yourself from that energy? Thank you in advance for your insight.

Thank you for your inquiry K.D,
Anger is an emotion that has within it the seeds of destruction & bondage,  or evolution & redemption. Anger is deeply rooted in judgment & attachment.  While anger can offer a wellspring of wisdom when it brings understanding, it holds the possibility of spiraling into malice or attack.  His Holiness the Dalai Lama stated, “We can see subconscious anger in terms of a lack of awareness, as well as an active misconstruing of reality."  Anger unexpressed, does not serve, it robs one of it’s transformative power & gifts. When anger is approached with attention & presence then the experience becomes profound.  As with all emotions, we have the seed of anger within us; get this, it is impossible for someone to “make” us angry.   We alone are solely responsible for our interpretations and projections.  Life is coming “from” us not “at” us as most would have it.  The conscious response to anger is to embrace it compassionately from a space of non-attachment.  From there you are able to witness that anger is birthed from the Spiritual. You will observe that anger and spirituality are not separate, they are one in the same. All life and all Acts are Spiritual when seen through the eyes of awareness. Understanding is a gift of awareness.
Anger serves a useful purpose in spirituality when noticed from awareness.  Anger must be acknowledged, not shunned & buried.  Turning a blind eye to this powerful force does not hinder  its expression, it then wages war against the body and mind in the form of disease. Embraced with understanding & inquiry, anger  becomes our servant & liberator.  It then reveals itself as a loving source of healing ascending from the Soul.  The Soul is the Inner Lighthouse illuminating our journey to the Perfection and Wholeness of our very Essence.  Anger allows us to experience our “wounds” and feelings of “separation”, illuminated by the Soul as an opportunity for healing the illusions of duality.  Viewed from mindfulness our emotions are transformative forces of healing and purification,  inspiring right action to unfold a transcendent shift within. Anger when approached from Insight becomes a gift rather than a curse, the Light of the Soul bestows a direct experience of Enlightenment by healing and removing obstacles on the Inner Journey of Infinite Becoming.
Anger as a force of destruction is of the E.G.O.  It is paralyzing, annihilates relationships and is a breach against the Soul.  Invited with Awareness, it is an opportunity to bring Light to darkness for the sake of healing into Oneness/Wholeness.  You get to choose. Are you it’s master or it’s slave?
